October 19, 2012:

Our Wine Tasting Policy  will change on November 1st.  After three decades of offering totally free samples, we feel that we need to keep pace with the times.  Please see the Shops and Hours page for details.

October 1, 2012:

A Price Increase  for Montmorency Cherry and Country Cherry takes effect today.  The new price is $12.90, which is a $2.00 increase.  The change is necessary, because there was cherry crop failure this year in Michigan due to a hard freeze in the Spring, which affected the market in Pennsylvania, too.  We were able to find less than we need for an annual production, and the price was much higher  Since our two cherry wines are authentic (made from only fresh cherries), we particularly feel the double hit.

May 11, 2012:

Vignoles  is again available in all Nissley Wine Shops and by UPS shipping in PA.    This 2011 vintage is lighter in body, but similar in flavor, with its characteristic pineapple note.  A chilled glass is especially delicious now, on a warm Spring day.  The price is $13.90 per bottle with 20% discount for 12 or more bottles.  The wine will be available throughout the year (because the 2011 harvest yield was high), which is a departure from previous vintages that were not released until October 1.

Petite Rosé  is again available in all Nissley Wine Shops and by UPS shipping in PA.   This 2011 vintage continues with a European traditional method for making rosé: it is made from free-run juice of red grapes (Chambourcin), which is reserved before pressing.    As the name implies, Petite Rosé is bottled in 375 mL bottles only.   The price is $6.90 per bottle with 20% discount for 12 or more bottles.

March 29, 2012:

The Concert Schedule  for Music in the Vineyards 2012 is now ready.

March 16, 2012:

We bottled Apple Wine this week, and we're happy to say that it's delicious and again available in all Nissley Wine Shops.  The price is $11.90 per bottle (750 mL) with a 20% discount on 12 bottles, as usual.

February 1, 2012:

Finally, after many months of the PLCB freezing all prices, they have recently approved price increases for certain wines and liquors that are sold in state stores.  This includes a $1.00 price increase for our Fantasy.  In the state stores, the new price is effective today.  However, the price in our Nissley Wine Shops will not change until March 1, 2012, because our promotion for Valentine Drinkable Cards began before the PLCB decision, and we feel it's unfair to change that price mid-stream.

January 11, 2012:

Wine Awards were announced recently at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.  We won nine awards in all, but we're most proud of winning the Governor's Cup for Best of Show: Fruit, which we received for Black Raspberry 2010Stop by any Nissley Wine Shop, to taste this exceptional wine.

January 1, 2011:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!   Wishing you a prosperous and healthy New Year, with the enjoyment of Nissley Wines!  We will participate in two events during January and February 2012.  We hope to see you soon.

August 16, 2011:

To our disappointment, we needed to cancel the  SilverHawks, concert on August 13th due to bad weather.  Sorry, the concert will not be rescheduled, because our Music in the Vineyards series ends on Labor Day Weekend, and the remaining dates are already booked.

August 1, 2011:

The price of Fantasy, will revert to our pre-July 1 price, because the PLCB did not approve our price increase request for this wine which is carried in their Wine & Spirits Shoppes.  In a departure from normal, we are discontinuing Fantasy as Season Feature mid-season.  Spicy Red ($8.72 per bottle) will be the Season Feature for the month of August.  It's a nice summertime drink when served over ice with a piece of fruit, like sangria.

June 24, 2011:

The price of Fantasy, our sweet rose' wine, will increase to $11.90 per bottle on July 1st.   The reason for the price increase is that the per-bottle cost of making our wine has increased due to lower yields in our vineyards.  2009 was too wet and 2010 was too dry.  Rather than increasing the prices of all wines, we decided to raise the price of just Fantasy, which represents nearly 20% of our total wine production.  To ease the sting of the increase, we decided to use Fantasy as the Season Feature wine priced at $9.52 during July and August.  The S.F. shelf price ends up being lower than the old price of $9.90.  However, case buyers will experience an increase.  (The case discount of 20% is the same as the Season Feature discount.)

June 24, 2011:

Classic White becomes Classical White.  The 2009 vintage of Classic White is nearly sold out, and the 2010 vintage, which follows, has a slightly different name.   Both vintages are basically the same blend of Cayuga and Seyval Blanc, made in a semi-dry style.  Any difference that might be detectable would be mostly due to the different weather conditions in the vineyards during 2009 (rainy) compared to 2010 (wet).   We renamed the wine because we like the more lyrical sound and the less presumptive meaning of the work Classical.  We hope you will agree.
